AKITA˛ ®: controlled inhalation - controlled deposition


AKITA˛® is a state of the art controlled breathing device using smart card technology  that is ideally suited for use in clinical testing of inhaled pharmaceuticals. AKITA˛® differs from our product AKITA® in that AKITA˛®  is equipped with innovative membrane type nebulizers. The incorporation of these aerosol generators allows the device to be much lighter than AKITA® and also more efficient, due to reduced residual volume of drug in the nebulizer.

The AKITA technology ensures extremely high deposition of inhaled therapeutics and allows specific targeting of different lung regions both in a consistent and reproducible manner. And the smart card technology means that data on compliance and dosing can be recorded automatically for each patient. These properties make AKITA˛® the obvious choice for early clinical trials, in particular for dosing trials of inhaled pharmaceuticals.
